Description
Matooke refers to green, starchy bananas (typically East African Highland bananas, Musa spp.), often peeled, cooked, and mashed into a staple dish. Primarily consumed in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, and parts of DR Congo. Firm when raw, soft and creamy when cooked; mildly sweet with a potato-like flavor.
